National Wound Community Think Tank

The National Wound Community Think Tank is an action- and solutions-oriented working group of Wounds Canada. The Think Tank will leverage and mobilize the knowledge and experience of a diverse and representative group from across Canada’s wound care community. The Think Tank will study areas of challenge and opportunity brought forward by Wounds Canada committees, Wounds Canada staff members and/or other members of the wound care community, identify underlying drivers, develop potential innovative solutions and produce recommendations and possible paths forward to be considered by the national Board of Directors.

Darren Levine, EdD

Session 7 Medline headshot Cathy Harley 1Darren Levine EdD, is an independent consultant supporting organizations to reimagine possibilities in today’s changing landscape. As a grant writer, social innovator and leadership educator, Dr. Levine’s work focuses on cultivating workplaces that inspire and engage, where all members can discover their creative potential and exercise leadership for innovative change.

Over the past twenty-five years, Darren has held a variety of management roles and has exercised leadership in several contexts including the not-for-profit and public sectors. Darren is Associate Faculty in the School of Leadership at Royal Roads University where he teaches graduate courses in organizational leadership and supervises student research. Darren holds a Doctor of Education (2010) and a Master of Education (2002) from the University of Toronto’s Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (2010) along with a Bachelor of Arts from York University (1999). He also holds a Graduate Certificate in Values-Based Leadership from Royal Roads University (2018) and Leadership for the 21st Century Executive Education Certificate from Harvard Kennedy School, Harvard University (2015)

John Hwang, MD, MSc, FRCSC

hwang.jpg John is a general surgeon and physician lead at the Fraser Health Complex Wound Centre in British Columbia.  He has specific interests in the optimal delivery of interprofessional wound care as well as physician engagement in quality improvement.

Diabetic Foot Task Force Committee

The Diabetic Task task Force's mission is to reduce diabetes-related foot complications, preventable amputations and loss of life for people living with diabetes in Canada. Specific initiatives may also be conducted on a regional and provincial basis.

Robyn Evans, BSc, MD, CCFP, FCFP.

Dr. Robyn Evans 1Evans is the Medical Director of the Wound Healing Clinic at Women’s College Hospital, involved in research and teaching. She also is a full-time family physician in the community.  Dr. Evans is part of the faculty of the International Interprofessional Wound Care Course (IIWCC) through the University of Toronto. She is senior faculty for Wounds Canada to support the development of interprofessional education programs for clinicians as well as delivery and evaluation of these programs. Dr. Evans is now co-chair for the Diabetic Task Force for Wound Canada. 

 

Joel Alleyne

Joel Alleyne Joel Alleyneis a researcher, consultant, entrepreneur and educator. He has a vast array of experience in the public and private sectors across the Americas and Europe.

Corporate Liaison Committee

The Industry Committee of Wounds Canada (WC) provides representation from Wounds Canada’s corporate members to give input to Wounds Canada for the improvement of the lives of people with wounds or at risk for wounds.

Beata Dymek MSc PT

Beata_pic.jpgBeata Dymek, MSc PT is a Medical Affairs Manager with Cardinal Health responsible for scientific programs on DVT prevention, nutritional delivery, electrodes, and wound care. Prior to joining Global Medical Affairs, she worked as a Clinical Business Development Manager leading the clinical team in Canada. Beata graduated with Master of Science in Physical Therapy from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ. Beata has been involved with DVT Prevention, Nutritional Delivery and Advanced Wound Care portfolios for number of years in different capacities including sales, marketing and clinical. Beata has been involved in wound care in various clinical and industry roles for over 25 years.

Douglas Queen

Dr. Douglas Queen, anDouglas Queen 2 international wound care consultant and researcher, co-founded the International Wound Journal alongside Dr. Keith Harding in 2004. Dr. Queen brings over 40 years of international expertise in commercial development, market access and med-tech R&D. Dr. Queen is one of the industry’s foremost experts in wound care and brings a unique combination of clinical knowledge and business acumen to the broader healthcare arena.

Douglas received his PhD in Biomedical Engineering studying Wound Care Dressings in 1986 from University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK, and also earned his MBA from Manchester Business School, University of Manchester, UK in 1996.

After completing his education, Douglas spent the initial part of his career working for ConvaTec, a medical device company focused on delivering products and services in the areas of skin, wound and ostomy care. His tenure at ConvaTec included roles in Research & Development and Sales and Marketing, spanning European and North American markets.
Douglas has also worked as an independent medical device consultant specializing in the wound care field, for the past 26 years. During this time, he has advised key opinion leaders, large, multinational companies, and smaller start-up companies in the areas of education, research, development, commercial development and market access.

Limb Preservation Alliance

A global collaboration to bring change to the fight for limb preservation and against unnecessary limb amputations. The alliance unites regional, national, and international organizations in efforts to support research, education, advocacy, and awareness.
