Wounds Canada is delighted to partner with Hospitals in Northern Ontario to build capacity in wound care among regulated health professionals through the Accredited Wound Care Champion Program (AWCCP).

Government of Ontario funding will support 200 regulated care providers (RNs, RPNs, NPs, MDs, PTs, OTs, Chiropodists, and RDs) working in Northern Ontario Hospitals in completing the Accredited Wound Care Champion Program over a 6-month period.  Applications for these funded seats are now being received. Interested staff are invited to register as soon as possible and include a sponsor letter from their organization. Please see the application below for additional important information and key dates.

All applicants must be employed by one of the hospitals LISTED HERE to be eligible. Additionally, all applicants will require a letter of support from their direct supervisor (this letter can be found on the application form linked below). 

Eligibility: Regulated Healthcare Providers employed in one of the approved Northern Ontario Hospitals.

About the Accredited Wound Care Champion Program

Designed to empower frontline regulated health-care clinicians (RN, RPN, NP, MD, PT, OT, Chiropodist, RD), the AWCCP equips participants with the essential knowledge and skills needed to identify individuals at risk for wounds and to implement effective preventative and treatment strategies. By embracing a systematic, interprofessional and person-centred approach, the AWCCP offers a comprehensive learning experience. This multifaceted program, which requires an average of 80 hours to complete, not only prepares clinicians to become proficient in wound prevention and care but also positions them to be leaders of change within the health care community.
